Ask Your AI Assistant About Electrical Safety: The Energy North Journal Connector

You can now ask your AI assistant questions about electrical safety in London and get answers drawn from the Energy North Journal, with a link to the guide it used. We have published a free connector that lets assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor search and read our guides directly. There is no account, no key and no cost.

What the connector does

The Energy North Journal is our collection of plain-English guides on EICRs, consumer units, landlord duties, business premises and EV charger installation across North, East and West London. The connector gives an AI assistant four simple tools:

  • Search the guides by plain words, for example "EICR for a rented flat in Haringey".
  • Read one guide in full, by its link.
  • See the newest guides first.
  • Get booking links for an EICR (from £100) or an EV charger survey.

Everything is read-only. The assistant can find and quote our guides, but it cannot book anything or change anything on our site. Our guides are general information, not legal advice.

How to connect it

Most assistants now accept a connector address in their settings. The steps are the same everywhere:

  1. Open the connectors or MCP servers section of your assistant's settings and choose to add a custom connector.
  2. Name it Energy North Journal and paste this address: https://energynorth.uk/api/mcp
  3. Leave sign-in empty. None is needed.
  4. Ask a question such as "Does my rented flat need an EICR and how often?"

The full technical description, including the public endpoints and the files that tell AI crawlers what the site offers, is on our developers page.

Where it is listed

The connector is published in the official MCP Registry under the name uk.energynorth/journal, and in the A2A Registry, so assistants that browse those registries can find it without the address.

Why we built it

People increasingly ask an assistant before they search the web. A landlord in Enfield asking "what happens if my EICR is unsatisfactory" should get the real rules, in plain words, from an electrician who does this work every week, rather than a guess. Connecting the journal means the answer comes from our guides, and the link goes with it, so the reader can check the detail and book if they need to.

Need the work done rather than the reading? Energy North covers North, East and West London. See energynorth.uk for the full list of services.
