Electrician Bethnal Green and Shoreditch: EICR for Flats and Offices

Bethnal Green and Shoreditch mix Victorian terraces, former warehouses turned into lofts, council estates and new flats, alongside hundreds of small offices, studios, bars and shops. That makes it one of the busiest areas we cover for both landlord EICRs and commercial testing in E2 and E1.

Areas we cover

We work across Bethnal Green, Cambridge Heath, Columbia Road, Shoreditch, Hoxton edge, Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Whitechapel and Haggerston edge, across Tower Hamlets and Hackney.

EICR for flats and warehouse conversions

Landlords must have an EICR at least every five years and give a copy to tenants before they move in. Warehouse conversions often have long cable runs in steel conduit or trunking, sub boards on each floor and mixed old and new wiring, so we take time to trace and label every circuit. EICRs start from £100 and the certificate is emailed the same day.

Offices, studios and shops

Small businesses here need their electrics tested too, usually every five years for offices and shops. We can test before opening or after closing, and work through one floor at a time in shared buildings. Our guide to EICRs for commercial units and shops explains the process.

What we often find

  • Fit outs added by several tenants with no records of what feeds what.
  • Extension leads and floor boxes overloaded in studios and offices.
  • Emergency lighting missing or not tested in shared buildings.
  • Older boards in ex council flats with no RCD protection.

For shared buildings, our guide to emergency lighting testing covers what the annual test involves.
