Electrician Edgware and Burnt Oak: EICR and EV Chargers

Edgware and Burnt Oak sit on the north western edge of the borough of Barnet, with the large Watling estate of 1920s and 1930s cottages, semis along the main roads and newer flats around Edgware town centre and Colindale. Many homes now have drives, and many are let. This page covers EICR certificates, consumer units and EV chargers in HA8 and NW9.

Areas we cover

We work across Edgware, Burnt Oak, the Watling estate, Mill Hill, Colindale, Grahame Park, Canons Park edge and the borders with Stanmore and Kingsbury, as part of our wider Barnet coverage.

EICR for local landlords

Private landlords must have the electrics inspected at least every five years and give a copy to tenants before they move in. We test every circuit, check the consumer unit, earthing and bonding, and code anything found as C1, C2, C3 or FI. EICRs start from £100 and the certificate is emailed the same day.

What we often find in Watling estate homes

  • Older consumer units with rewireable fuses or no RCD protection.
  • Lighting circuits with no earth in houses that have never been fully rewired.
  • Rear extensions and garden rooms wired on to existing circuits.
  • Electric showers fitted on undersized cable.

If the shower is part of the problem, our guide to electric shower upgrades and cable size explains what has to be checked.

EV chargers

Plenty of houses around Edgware and Mill Hill have off street parking, so home chargers are a popular upgrade. We check the supply, earthing and board first, and fit the charger on the wall or a post depending on where you park.
