Electrician Hanwell and West Ealing: EICR and Consumer Units

Hanwell and West Ealing sit between Ealing Broadway and the River Brent, with streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis and newer flats around the Elizabeth line stations. Lots of homes here are let, and many family houses have been extended. This page covers EICR certificates, consumer units and EV chargers in W7 and W13.

Areas we cover

We work across Hanwell, Boston Manor edge, Cuckoo estate, West Ealing, Northfields, Drayton Green, Castlebar and the borders with Ealing Broadway, Southall and Greenford, as part of our wider Ealing coverage.

EICR for W7 and W13 landlords

Private landlords must have an EICR at least every five years and give a copy to tenants before they move in. Ealing runs property licensing for many rented homes, so check which scheme applies to yours. EICRs start from £100 and the certificate is emailed the same day.

What we often find

  • Victorian terraces with original lighting circuits and no earth.
  • Kitchen extensions with sockets added to old ring circuits.
  • Older consumer units with a single RCD covering the whole house.
  • Garden offices with unsuitable cable runs.
  • Bathrooms with lights and fans that have no RCD protection.

Our guide to bathroom electrics and zones covers what an EICR checks in that room.

Consumer units and EV chargers

If the board is old or full, upgrading to a modern consumer unit with RCBO protection for each circuit is often the best fix, especially before adding a car charger. Our guide on getting the consumer unit checked before solar, heat pumps or chargers explains why.
