Electrician Poplar and Canary Wharf: EICR for Flats
Poplar and Canary Wharf, in the east of Tower Hamlets, mix towers of new flats around the Isle of Dogs and Blackwall with older council estates, Victorian terraces and converted warehouses. Most homes here are flats, and a large share are let, so landlord EICRs make up much of our work in E14.
Areas we cover
We work across Poplar, Canary Wharf, the Isle of Dogs, Millwall, Cubitt Town, Blackwall, Limehouse, All Saints, Bromley-by-Bow and the borders with Bow and Canning Town, as part of our wider Tower Hamlets coverage.
EICR for flats in towers and blocks
Landlords must have an EICR at least every five years and give a copy to tenants before they move in. In newer blocks the inspection is usually quick, but we still check everything added since the flat was built, such as extra lighting, extractor fans and kitchen appliances. EICRs start from £100 and the certificate is emailed the same day.
Working in managed buildings
Many blocks in E14 have concierge desks, parking rules and booked lift times. We arrange access with the building in advance, carry our insurance documents and work around tenants where we can, so the visit runs smoothly for everyone.
What we often find
- Fittings added by previous tenants with no certificates.
- Balcony lights and sockets with water getting in.
- Missing labels on the consumer unit.
- Older estate flats with original boards and no RCD protection.
