Electrician Enfield Town and Bush Hill Park: EICR for Period Homes
Enfield Town and Bush Hill Park have some of the finest Victorian and Edwardian streets in North London, alongside 1930s semis, mansion flats near the station and newer flats around the town centre. Many of these homes have been extended and renovated, and many are let. This page covers EICR certificates, rewires and consumer units in EN1 and EN2.
Areas we cover
We work across Enfield Town, Bush Hill Park, Gordon Hill, Chase Side, Forty Hill, Enfield Chase, Grange Park edge and the borders with Winchmore Hill and Edmonton, close to our North London base.
EICR for EN1 and EN2
Landlords must have an EICR at least every five years and give a copy to tenants before they move in. Enfield runs property licensing for many rented homes, so check which scheme applies. Homeowners often book a report before selling or starting building work. EICRs start from £100 and the certificate is emailed the same day. Our earlier guide to EICR cost in Enfield covers what is included.
What we often find in period homes
- Lighting circuits with no earth in houses never fully rewired.
- Loft and basement conversions added to the original circuits.
- Older consumer units with rewireable fuses or no RCD protection.
- Downlights cut into ceilings with no fire rating.
- Garden studios with unsuitable supplies.
Where the wiring is at the end of its life, our post on signs a home needs a rewire explains what to look for.
EV chargers
Many houses in Bush Hill Park and Gordon Hill have drives, so home chargers are a popular upgrade. We check the supply, earthing and board first, and fit the charger where it suits your parking.
