Electrician Whitechapel and Wapping: EICR for Flats

Whitechapel and Wapping, in the west of Tower Hamlets, sit just east of the City. Whitechapel has Georgian and Victorian terraces, mansion blocks and many new flats, while Wapping is known for its converted riverside warehouses and modern blocks along the Thames. Most homes are flats and many are let. This page covers EICRs and electrical work in E1 and E1W.

Areas we cover

We work across Whitechapel, Wapping, Aldgate East, Stepney, Shadwell, St Katharine Docks, Spitalfields and the borders with the City, Bethnal Green and Limehouse. Our posts on Bethnal Green and Shoreditch and Poplar and Canary Wharf cover the neighbouring areas.

EICR for flats

Landlords must have an EICR at least every five years and give a copy to tenants before they move in. Tower Hamlets runs property licensing for many privately rented homes, so check which scheme covers yours. EICRs start from £100 and the certificate is emailed the same day.

Warehouse conversions

Converted warehouses often have long cable runs, exposed conduit, high ceilings and lighting on separate circuits for each level. Some flats have their boards in cupboards far from the front door, and many have been altered more than once. We trace every circuit, label the board and record what we find in plain English.

What we often find in E1

  • Extra lighting and sockets added with no certificates.
  • Older consumer units with no RCD protection in older blocks.
  • High level lighting with damaged fittings.
  • Missing labels on the consumer unit.

Our guide to EICR, EIC and Minor Works certificates explains which paperwork you need after any new work.
